I never felt like a really got anuthing out of sleepovers. One minute I was filled with anticipation over the prospect ofa sleepover and the next I was having a hard tme sleeping cause one of my friends was snoring too loud or there were strange sounds in the basement, where we often slept. This led me to feel extremely tired the next morning.

Wonderfully written! Thank you, Alexa.
Laughter is truly beautiful music to the ears that hear and "medicine" to tired, but open hearts and souls. My father had similar responses to 'noise' as yours, regardless the emotions creating the noise. Like you, however, I strive to consciously choose to focus and LOVE "what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. " (Phil 4:8, NLT). It brings ME up to the place in which I am my best, for Him, for my family and for myself.
Blessings and MANY giggles, Linda

Just read your post . . . AFTER reading this morning in Ps 69 and sharing (a bit candidly) how refreshing it is to see verses so emotionally distant put right together in the Word . . . just for us . . . just to remind us that the journey from joy to sorrow is sometimes just a blink, just a word, just a whisper apart. Ps 69 - I am sad ... I will give thanks in song and God is pleased . . . juxtaposed and yet harmonic. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

you know, if somebody insults you it will take three compliments for the good to outweigh the bad in your mind? it's been scientifically proven. sadness has always been stronger. it's easier to be sad, really. i think a balance is good. it's not good to pretend not to hear the bad things and act oblivious, but it's not good to only focus on the negative either.

Eh...Marianne, I agree to an extent. I maintain that certain dialogues be more personal and less instant. Doing so keeps us aware that some things don't land well, even if you know the heart. Best to talk for real.

I was going to say what Jenni said. If you know the heart of the sender you will know the intent of the words. Good words!

Well said.

Instant and unintended miscommunication . . . my apologies.

In those circumstances, know the heart of the sender can transform the misstep into just another step.

Love you sister.

I LOVE that story! Way to go, 'Saja! Thanks for teaching us a wonderful lesson on conquering our fears. My five year old daughter, Anna, is terribly afraid of the sound of the flushing toilet. She bends her ear down to her shoulder, so one ear is cut off from the sound. Then she flushes, and RUNS! She will have to conquer her fear someday, and I hope I can use your story to encourage her!
