Look around!
See the jobless increase,
Their bills consume
What material peace that may have been…
See the children,
Full of hope for their part in this world…
As they should be.
See the homeless child,
Her parents;
See their invisibility.
Look!
Look at their confusion about our inadequate comfort.
See the rich man,
His bailed-out company,
His car,
His fortress,
His millions.
See him have no care
But how to keep his spoils.
See what we have allowed.
See where we are going
and flee from it.

~ ~ ~ Lord, hear the prayer of Your daughter ~ ~ ~
Be my rainshadow –
A refuge from the torrents,
From the deluges of the towering tempests…
Be my sun break –
In the expansive gray skies of affliction
And looming threats of failure…
Be my windbreak –
Whisper peace to Your daughter
Whose ears throb from the voice of unrelenting tumult…
Be my still waters –
Where I can see a clear reflection of You in me.
Let not asperity obscure my vision.
Be
My
Everything.
