Growing Edges

How Does One Get There?

Tell me, please, how one gets to the place where crying an ocean of tears is just one blink away — without any obvious cause?

How is it that meditating on all things good, and seeing the positive side of whatever, can be a trail that leads to a desolate clearing that seems laden with sorrow?

It is so contrary. So wrong.

What is up with that?

How does sadness loom randomly, and oppress so overwhelmingly?

Just read your post . . . AFTER reading this morning in Ps 69 and sharing (a bit candidly) how refreshing it is to see verses so emotionally distant put right together in the Word . . . just for us . . . just to remind us that the journey from joy to sorrow is sometimes just a blink, just a word, just a whisper apart. Ps 69 – I am sad … I will give thanks in song and God is pleased . . . juxtaposed and yet harmonic. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

you know, if somebody insults you it will take three compliments for the good to outweigh the bad in your mind? it’s been scientifically proven. sadness has always been stronger. it’s easier to be sad, really. i think a balance is good. it’s not good to pretend not to hear the bad things and act oblivious, but it’s not good to only focus on the negative either.

emotions are complicated >.<
